working column/pipe key

Thanks... Wish I had known about this before.  As well as fixing the
pipe-key problem, it also gives you a resizable console window with scroll
bars so you can read what has gone wizzing off the top of the screen.  It
would be neat if CygWin's setup could make this the default!
